A Glittering Night of Triumph at the Miss St. Kitts and Nevis Pageant

The Miss St. Kitts & Nevis Pageant, a prestigious beauty competition that captivated onlookers and ignited dreams, unfolded last night in a splendid showcase of talent, grace, and poise. As part of the Sugar Mas 52 festivities hosted by the St. Kitts & Nevis Carnival Committee (SKNNCC), this event was an enchanting display of beauty and talent.

Queen Desnarine

Among the radiant contestants, Miss Desnarine Hanley, proudly sponsored by the St. Kitts Music Festival, emerged as the luminary, securing victory with an impressive total of 916 points. Her remarkable achievement was rewarded with a grand prize of $20,000, but her triumph transcended the crown.

In an exceptional development, senior officials from Southern University were present to honour Desnarine with a full 4-year scholarship to attend Southern University, valued at an extraordinary $108,000. This remarkable opportunity for higher education stands as a testament to her exceptional performance and limitless potential.

The St. Kitts & Nevis National Carnival Committee (SKNNCC) takes great pride in announcing this momentous scholarship, made possible through the unwavering advocacy of the Federal Cabinet including the Honourable Samal Duggins, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Marine Resources and Cooperatives, Small Business and Entrepreneurship, Sports and the Creative Economy and Entertainment and the Arts.

Minister Duggins, in collaboration with Her Excellency Hadiya Claxton, personally visited Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in September of this year and engaged in productive discussions with esteemed university officials. His dedicated efforts have resulted in a life-changing opportunity for Desnarine.

Desnarine’s triumph was followed by the outstanding performances of her fellow contestants. 1st Runnerup, Miss TDC Group of Companies Desanne Maynard, who secured a commendable score of 859 points, and 2nd Runner-up, Miss St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla National Bank Ltd Azariah Vanterpool, who achieved an impressive 845 points, added to the evening’s splendour with their remarkable performances.

The SKNNCC extends its sincere appreciation to Honourable Samal Duggins, all sponsors, chaperones, and committee members who played pivotal roles in organising this extraordinary event. Their steadfast support empowers our young women to shine on the national stage and pursue their dreams.
