The West Indies finally gave their fans something to cheer about after defeating Sri Lanka in the opening T20 match on Thursday night.
Batting first, Sri Lanka posted a competitive 147 for 9 from their allotted 20 overs. Kamindu Mendis top-scored with 51 runs.
Jason Holder and Shamar Joseph were the standout bowlers for the West Indies, each claiming three wickets.
In reply, the Windies successfully chased down the target in the final over, despite facing some resistance along the way, finishing on 149 for 3.
Captain Shai Hope led from the front with an unbeaten 65.
Wanindu Hasaranga picked up 2 wickets for 32 runs.
West Indies won by seven wickets with four balls remaining.
