Finally, a win for the West Indies team!
On Wednesday, June 11th, the West Indies women’s senior team faced off against South Africa women in the first One Day International of the ongoing series. The match took place in Barbados.
South Africa batted first, scoring 232 runs for 9 wickets in 50 overs. In a rain-affected encounter, the West Indies women achieved victory by scoring 180 runs for 6 wickets in 32 overs, winning via the DLS method.
Quiana Joseph contributed significantly with 60 runs, while captain Hayley Matthews scored 40 runs, and Stefanie Taylor finished unbeaten on 30 runs.
The second match is scheduled for Saturday, June 14th.
