CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS, May 2026 — The Department of Education-Nevis is inviting the public to attend the 17th Annual Interscholastic Spelling Bee Competition, scheduled for Friday, May 15, 2026, at the Nevis Performing Arts Centre (NePAC).

The highly anticipated event will showcase the spelling excellence, confidence, and academic abilities of students from primary and secondary schools across the island.

The competition will begin at 9:00 a.m. with the Primary Schools’ Competition, featuring talented spellers representing the island’s 10 primary schools. Students will compete for top honours as they demonstrate their mastery of vocabulary and spelling skills.

At 1:30 p.m., attention will shift to the Secondary Schools’ Competition, where representatives from Nevis’ three secondary schools will compete in what promises to be an exciting and competitive showdown.

The Department of Education is encouraging parents, teachers, students, and members of the wider community to come out and support the participants as they showcase academic excellence and a passion for learning.

The event is sponsored by The Dr. Lornette Mills Charitable Fund, in collaboration with the Nevis Association of South Florida, with additional contributions from HarperCollins Publishers.

The organizers thank all sponsors, educators, parents, and volunteers who continue to support the development of literacy and education on the island.

The annual Spelling Bee Competition remains one of the Department’s flagship educational events, promoting literacy, confidence, discipline, and healthy academic competition among students in Nevis.
