New Delhi, INDIA — Denzil L. Douglas, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saint Kitts and Nevis, says his visit to New Delhi “marks another important milestone in the strengthening of diplomatic and economic relations between St. Kitts and Nevis and India.”

“The visit is expected to focus on expanding cooperation, strengthening diplomatic engagement, and enhancing bilateral ties between our two countries,” said Dr Douglas, who noted that a major highlight of the visit will be the inauguration of the High Commission of St. Kitts and Nevis in New Delhi.

He explained that the establishment of the High Commission represents a significant diplomatic step, creating a permanent presence in India that reflects the growing importance of the relationship between the two nations.

During the visit, Dr Douglas will hold high-level discussions with senior Indian officials aimed at boosting cooperation in areas such as trade, sustainable development, climate action, and international partnerships.

“The visit also reinforces India’s continued engagement with Caribbean nations and the Global South,” he said, noting that relations between India and St. Kitts and Nevis have remained cordial for many years, with cooperation spanning sectors such as pharmaceuticals, healthcare, education, diplomacy, and trade.

India has also provided support to St. Kitts and Nevis through initiatives such as vaccine assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic, further strengthening ties between the two countries.
