International Pianist Yu-Hshuan Feng Delights Audience at Nevis Piano Recital

CHARLESTOWN, Nevis — Music lovers gathered at the Charlestown Methodist Church on Tuesday evening, May 5, for an unforgettable piano recital featuring internationally renowned Taiwanese pianist Yu-Hshuan Feng.

The well-attended event, dubbed “Harmony Across Cultures,” showcased Ms Feng’s remarkable musical talent during a captivating 50-minute performance that blended classical selections with familiar melodies appreciated by the audience.

The evening’s programme was ably chaired by Mrs Deslyn Johnson, who guided patrons through the cultural and musical experience.

During the recital, Ms Feng performed a variety of pieces, some well-known to audience members and others introducing listeners to new musical expressions. One of the evening’s highlights came when she teamed up with local violinist Mauricia Claxton for a moving rendition of the beloved local classic, “Nevis Lovely Nevis.”

Ms. Feng began her musical journey at the age of four and later gained international recognition after winning the prestigious International Asian Elite Competition. In addition to her performance career, she currently serves as both a church organist and music educator.

The recital concluded with a stunning duet performance featuring Ms. Feng and her sister sharing the same piano, leaving the audience thoroughly entertained and impressed.

Among those in attendance were Her Honour Hyleeta Liburd and Mr. Liburd, Premier Mark Brantley and Mrs. Brantley, along with several members of the Nevis Island Administration Cabinet.

The evening served as a celebration of music, culture, and international friendship, further strengthening cultural ties between Taiwan and St. Kitts and Nevis.
