Karene Paul: Newest Member of Legal Fraternity

CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS (October 22nd 2013) — An impressive ceremony, held yesterday [Tuesday 22nd October 2013] signaled the official start of Ms. Karene D. Paul’s legal career.

Paul, the daughter of Cotton Ground resident, Jacinth Paul was “called to the bar” at the High Court in Charlestown in the presence of members of the St. Kitts-Nevis Bar Association, her family members, close friends and other well-wishers.

Ms. Paul’s application for admission to the bar was proposed by Senior Counsel Myrna Walwyn and supported by Senior Counsel Glenford Hamilton. Brief remarks were also made by Mr. Arud Gossai of the St. Kitts-Nevis Bar Association.

Justice Albert Redhead officially inducted Ms. Paul into the legal fraternity and offered words of advice to her.
Ms. Paul’s well-orated response brought tears to some as she recorded appreciation to a number of persons including her mother, who, although overwhelmed with emotion, simply smiled and nodded as Karene addressed those gathered.

In 2003, Ms. Paul pursued an Associate’s Degree and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice at the Johnson and Wales University in North Miami, Florida. From 2008 to 2011, she studied at the University of the West Indies’ Cave Hill Campus in Barbados where she received a Bachelor of Laws Degree.

In September 2013, Ms. Paul graduated from the Norman Manley Law School in Jamaica with a Legal Education Certificate.
Ms. Paul is currently an Associate at the chambers of Hamilton & Company.
