NEW YORK, USA — The New York–based Liamuiga Oualie Arts Foundation (LOAF) is highlighting the academic achievement of one of its scholarship recipients during the Christmas Term 1 of the 2025–2026 academic year.
In March of last year, LOAF announced its mission to fund academic scholarships for students in St. Kitts and Nevis through an annual celebration of Kittitian and Nevisian culture known as the *Sugar Experience*, staged in New York City.
Beyond financial assistance, LOAF fosters close relationships with its scholarship recipients and their families throughout the students’ educational journeys, investing in each child’s personal and academic development beyond the award itself.
“Liamuiga” is the indigenous name for St. Kitts, meaning “fertile land,” while “Oualie” is the indigenous name for Nevis, meaning “land of beautiful waters.” The name LOAF, therefore, reflects and celebrates the shared heritage of both islands.
In keeping with this mission, LOAF plans to expand its global initiative to showcase the creative arts and culture of St. Kitts and Nevis by highlighting local artists, folklore, and traditions through the *Sugar Experience* in New York City.
“Empowering youth, shaping Caribbean excellence—at the Liamuiga Oualie Arts Foundation, we are proud to support students in St. Kitts and Nevis through academic fellowships, mentorship, and vital resources, building a future rooted in pride, heritage, and achievement,” LOAF stated.
