Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the St. Kitts Tourism Authority, Melnecia Marshall, recently chaired the Opening Ceremony of the 9th Council of Ministers of Tourism Meeting, held in St. Kitts from February 11–12, 2026.
The high-level meeting brought together regional tourism leaders at a time when the global tourism landscape continues to evolve. In her remarks, Marshall underscored the importance of sustained regional dialogue, noting that collaboration among Caribbean nations is essential to strengthening resilience, sharpening competitiveness, and ensuring inclusive, people-centred growth.
She emphasised that the region’s tourism leadership must move beyond preservation and embrace bold, innovative strategies aimed at diversifying markets, expanding value propositions, and unlocking new opportunities for sustainable economic growth.
Marshall also highlighted the central role of tourism in national development, stressing that the sector must continue to empower local communities, create entrepreneurial opportunities, support small businesses, and drive broader economic advancement across the Caribbean.
The two-day meeting served as a platform for strategic discussions and policy coordination aimed at advancing the region’s tourism agenda in an increasingly dynamic global environment.
