Ministry of Education Launches Annual Pre-Service Training Programme for Future Teachers

Basseterre, St. Kitts – The Ministry of Education officially launched its annual pre-service training programme for future teachers on Wednesday, June 18, with an opening ceremony held at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Auditorium.

The programme is being conducted under the theme, “Transforming Education Through Self-Renewal, Holistic Partnerships and Digital Solutions,” reflecting the Ministry’s commitment to preparing a new generation of educators equipped to meet the evolving demands of the education sector.

The annual training serves as a foundational experience for aspiring teachers, providing them with the skills, knowledge and professional attitudes necessary to excel in today’s classrooms. Participants will engage in a series of sessions designed to strengthen their understanding of effective teaching practices, classroom management, student engagement, and the integration of technology into learning.

This year’s theme underscores the importance of continuous self-improvement among educators, the cultivation of meaningful partnerships among schools, families and communities, and the strategic use of digital tools to enhance teaching and learning outcomes.

Officials from the Ministry of Education emphasized that investing in teacher preparation remains a key priority, as educators play a pivotal role in shaping the nation’s future. They noted that the pre-service training programme is intended not only to prepare participants for the practical realities of the classroom, but also to inspire them to become innovative, compassionate and lifelong learners.

The Ministry expressed confidence that the training will empower participants to embrace new approaches to education while fostering collaboration and excellence throughout the teaching profession.

As the programme progresses, future teachers will have the opportunity to interact with experienced educators and education professionals, gaining valuable insights that will assist them as they embark on their careers in service to the nation’s students.

The annual pre-service training programme remains an important pillar of the Ministry of Education’s efforts to strengthen the quality of education and ensure that all learners have access to dynamic, inclusive and future-ready classrooms.
