Sagicor continues its support of Pinktober with activities to increase awareness

Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: Each year in October, Sagicor participates in the drive to increase breast cancer awareness by planning activities around what is now called ‘Pinktober’. This year the company themed its activities around the message “Are You Seeing the Signs?” which highlighted the importance of screening for early detection with its annual ‘Pinktober’ campaign.

The campaign, which was activated in St Kitts and Nevis and the other Southern Caribbean countries in which the insurance giant is present, urged persons across the Caribbean not to wait until the signs present themselves, as they may not always be obvious, but to use screening as the first line of defence. The team in St Kitts and Nevis has been implementing a series of activities for many years now and this year was no different.

Cleone Moore, Administrative Manager for Sagicor said, “In the ongoing fight against breast cancer, early detection goes a long way towards saving lives. We at Sagicor are pleased to be able to play our part in the fight against this deadly disease by saying to both men and women alike, be vigilant, look for the signs and more than anything, get your screenings done.”

She continued, “This year, in addition to decorating the office to highlight the month for our clients and team members, we sponsored initiatives hosted by some of our organisations that support the cause and hosted free breast exams at our office for team members by Dr Keisha Liddie. This is our fifth year conducting this initiative and our team appreciates the annual intervention very much.”
Sagicor also sponsored Reach for Recovery SKB on their ‘Refresh the Speed’ Pink Bump Initiative, for which speed bumps and traffic signage are painted pink to increase awareness; the Essence of Hope Association and the Pink Lily Association, for their Breast Cancer Walk & Awareness which took place on October 21st in Nevis and October 29th in St Kitts. Team members also took the opportunity to wear pink work wear or specially printed pink T-shirts in support of the cause.
