Summer Job Attachment Participants Encouraged to Build Trust in the Workplace

Participants in the Department of Youth’s 2026 Summer Job Attachment Programme received valuable insights into one of the most important qualities for workplace success—trust—during an engaging presentation led by Gabriella Brantley.

The session, titled “Building Trust,” brought together fifth-form, sixth-form, CFBC and CWIT students enrolled in this year’s programme. It formed part of the Department of Youth’s ongoing efforts to prepare young people for meaningful and successful workplace experiences.

During the interactive presentation, Brantley led participants in thoughtful discussions on the behaviours and attitudes that foster trust in professional environments. Topics included honesty, accountability, effective communication, reliability, data privacy, confidentiality, and the serious consequences that can arise when trust is compromised in the workplace.

Students were encouraged to recognize that trust is a cornerstone of strong professional relationships and an essential ingredient for personal and career success. The session also highlighted the importance of safeguarding sensitive information and maintaining ethical standards in every work environment.

Brantley commended the students for their enthusiasm and active participation, expressing confidence in the next generation of Nevisian professionals.

“The future of the Nevis workforce looks incredibly bright,” she noted, praising the participants for their maturity, thoughtful contributions, and willingness to learn.

The Department of Youth’s Summer Job Attachment Programme continues to provide young people with practical knowledge and workplace readiness skills through a series of professional development sessions, equipping participants to make positive contributions during their summer placements and throughout their future careers.
