Primary school cricket action has returned to the ET Willet Park in Charlestown, Nevis, thanks to the corporate sponsorship of the St. Kitts Nevis Anguilla Trading and Development Company Limited (TDC), the title sponsor of the 2026 Runako Morton TDC Primary Schools Cricket Tournament.
Named in honour of the late Runako Morton, one of Nevis’ most accomplished cricketers, this year’s tournament serves as an enduring tribute to his legacy while providing young aspiring cricketers with an invaluable opportunity to develop their cricketing skills, build confidence, and embrace the values that sport instils.
Beyond the competition itself, the annual tournament encourages teamwork, discipline, respect, leadership, resilience, fair play, and good sportsmanship—qualities that extend far beyond the cricket field and benefit the young boys and girls participating from primary schools across Nevis.
Commenting on the company’s ongoing partnership, Mr Ernie France, Head of Nevis Operations, stated:
“At TDC, we believe that investing in our youth is one of the most meaningful investments we can make. The Runako Morton TDC Primary Schools Cricket Tournament not only celebrates athletic excellence but also helps shape future leaders by teaching the values of commitment, discipline, teamwork, and perseverance. We are proud to continue supporting this outstanding initiative and to honour the enduring legacy of Runako Morton, whose passion, determination, and achievements continue to inspire our young cricketers on Nevis.”
The 2026 tournament will feature eight primary schools: St. Thomas’ Primary School, Charlestown Primary School, Violet O. Jeffers Nicholls Primary School, Maude Cross Preparatory School, Ivor Walters Primary School, Elizabeth Pemberton Primary School, St. James’ Primary School, and Joycelyn Liburd Primary School. The schools will take to the pitch in a spirited celebration of youth cricket, showcasing their talent in a competitive yet supportive environment.
The tournament will also play an important role in identifying and nurturing the next generation of cricketing talent while strengthening Nevis’ proud sporting heritage.
