Australia continued their dominant run at the Women’s T20 World Cup, securing a fourth consecutive victory with a comprehensive 113-run win over Pakistan at Headingley.
Veteran all-rounder Ellyse Perry delivered a masterful performance, producing one of the finest innings of her illustrious T20 World Cup career. Perry struck a brilliant 71 off 48 balls to anchor Australia’s innings after the early loss of Beth Mooney, who was dismissed off the very first ball of the match.
Batting on a pitch that offered plenty of assistance to the batters, Perry combined with Georgia Voll in a crucial second-wicket partnership worth more than 100 runs, helping Australia recover from their early setback and post an imposing total of 199 for 7 from their 20 overs.
Facing a daunting target of 200, Pakistan never gained momentum in their chase and were bowled out for just 86 runs in 13.4 overs. Muneeba Ali offered the lone bright spot for Pakistan with a top score of 32.
Australia’s bowlers shared the spoils, with Sophie Molineux returning impressive figures of 2 for 6, Perry completing an outstanding all-round performance with 2 for 9, and Annabel Sutherland claiming 2 for 12.
The emphatic victory further strengthens Australia’s position as one of the tournament favourites as they remain unbeaten through four matches.
