Development Bank is Platinum Sponsor of Mr and Miss EPPS Show in Nevis

Charlestown, Nevis, January 23, 2018 (DBSKN) — Elizabeth Pemberton Primary School (EPPS) is celebrating its tenth anniversary with a sequence of events, under the theme ‘Celebrating Our Accolades throughout the Decade’, and one of the highlight events will be the highly anticipated Mr and Miss Elizabeth Pemberton Primary School Show.

The school, which is situated in Cole Hill on the Flats in St. John’s Parish which is represented in the Nevis Island Assembly by Premier of Nevis the Hon Mark Brantley, was originally known as the St. John’s Primary School while at Brown Pasture.

It moved to the new location and into new buildings ten years ago and was renamed the Elizabeth Pemberton Primary School in honour of the long standing teacher at the school. The school is in Zone ‘B’ category as it has less than 125 children.

“In January 2018 we are celebrating our 10th anniversary and like all the celebrations we are going to have a sequence of activities and chief of those activities is the Mr and Miss Elizabeth Pemberton Primary School Show,” said school teacher Mrs Shenella Parry. “In light of this venture we were soliciting some funds for sponsorship and we reached out to the Development Bank.”

An institution that is well known for its commitment to education, the Development Bank of St. Kitts and Nevis (DBSKN), through its Nevis branch responded positively to the request and came on board as a Platinum Sponsor of the Mr and Miss EPPS Show.

The show will be held on Saturday February 3 at the Cultural Complex in Stoney Grove, Charlestown, starting from 7:00 pm.

“We at the Development Bank of St. Kitts and Nevis believe that education is the best gift a parent can give to his or her child,” said Mrs Jean Alcendor-Browne, the Bank’s Credit Risk Management Officer at the Nevis Branch. “The Mr and Miss EPPS Show is an appropriate extra-curriculum activity that will help in the shaping of our future leaders, and we are in full support of it.”

Presenting the Bank’s sponsorship cheque, the Development Bank official observed that parents in the Federation have done the country proud by supporting their children through the education system, and she gave the assurance that the Development Bank of St. Kitts and Nevis (DBSKN) will continue to play its part as a leader in the promotion of education.

“The Development Bank is a very people-friendly institution and they have a vested interest in the population of Nevis,” said Mrs Shenella Parry after she received the cheque. “They are trying to do their part to help people to progress, and as a beneficiary of this bank I very much appreciate their service and all that they would have helped me to accomplish.”

School’s Principal, Ms Shenelle Pemberton was quoted by the Department of Information in the Nevis Island Administration as saying that because it is the school’s sports season, a decision was taken to highlight the three house colours, Red, Green, and Gold for the Mr and Miss EPPS Show, where each participant will showcase their house colour.

The principal further noted that different competitive segments would feature during the show. They are the normal fanfare segment, the sporting segment, talent segment, the professional wear segment where students will depict a profession they would have chosen, and a question and answer segment.
