Nevis Celebrates Successful 25th Anniversary of Nevis To St Kitts Cross Channel Swim

NEVIS, West Indies  – The Nevis to St. Kitts Cross Channel Swim marked a major milestone with the successful staging of its 25th anniversary (Silver Jubilee), welcoming 500 swimmers from 41 countries to participate in one of the Caribbean’s most iconic open-water events.

Participants travelled from as far as Australia, Austria, Antarctica, France, Guam, Guernsey, Japan, the Netherlands, Polynesia, Switzerland, Spain, Scotland and across the Caribbean, reinforcing the event’s international appeal and continued growth.

Among the notable participants was Alice Dearing, a former British Olympic marathon swimmer and global diversity advocate. Dearing made history as the first Black woman to represent Great Britain in Olympic swimming in 2021 and is the co-founder of the Black Swimming Association, which promotes water safety and inclusion for Black and Asian communities. She delivered an outstanding performance, recording a time of 1:13:17 and placing first in her age category (20–29).

The 2.5-mile open-water swim, which takes participants from Oualie Beach in Nevis to Cockleshell Bay in St. Kitts, once again showcased the breathtaking beauty of the Narrows while delivering a safe, well-coordinated, and memorable experience for swimmers of all levels.

As a main sponsor, the Nevis Tourism Authority (NTA) played a key role in supporting the event, which continues to generate meaningful economic impact through increased visitor arrivals, accommodation stays, and engagement with local businesses.
