NEVIS, St. Kitts and Nevis — Deputy Director of the Nevis Disaster Management Department, Jacob Ngumbah, has received formal recognition from Nova Southeastern University for his outstanding contributions as a guest presenter in the university’s Ph.D. Conflict Analysis and Resolution Programme.
In a letter dated May 4, 2026, the university expressed sincere appreciation for Mr. Ngumbah’s participation in two academic sessions that provided doctoral scholars with valuable insights into disaster management, community resilience, and crisis communication.
The university further noted that his impactful contribution during the panel discussion led to an invitation to return for a second seminar titled “Communication as Governance: Rethinking Disaster Management through the IDG Framework.” During that session, Mr. Ngumbah was commended for offering a compelling and forward-thinking perspective on the central role communication plays in effective disaster management.
In the official correspondence, Dr. Elena Bastidas, Programme Director for the Conflict Analysis and Resolution Programme, praised Mr. Ngumbah’s ability to clearly articulate complex concepts while engaging the academic audience in meaningful discussion.
“We are grateful for the time, expertise, and care you brought to both sessions. Your contributions enriched the academic experience of our scholars and supported deeper learning and critical reflection,” the letter stated.
