West Indies Cricketer Arrested

Shakere Parris

Barbadian cricketer Shaqkere Parris has been granted bail after being charged with battery in St. John’s, Antigua.

Parris, who represents the West Indies “A” team, is currently in Antigua with the West Indies Academy squad following its recent tour of Sri Lanka.

According to the Antigua Observer, Parris allegedly assaulted a taxi driver at the team’s hotel after the driver refused to allow him into the vehicle following a verbal altercation. The top-order batsman is alleged to have pushed and punched the driver after the taxi operator removed his luggage from the vehicle.

Parris is scheduled to appear before the Magistrate’s Court today on the misdemeanour charge. If convicted, he is expected to be fined.
