Athletics : Grades One and Two Excite at CPS Cross-Country

Charlestown Primary School (CPS) was alive with energy and excitement on Monday, January 26, when it staged its annual cross-country event, drawing strong support from parents, teachers, and well-wishers.

The second set of athletes out of the blocks were the Grades One and Two boys and girls, who tackled the same course used by the Kindergarten runners. The young competitors started from the back of the school, made their way through Ramsbury, turned right along the route, and sprinted toward the school’s main gate to the finish.

The boys’ race produced one of the highlights of the day, as Jonas Hendrickson and Ramian Gumbs engaged in a thrilling, stride-for-stride contest. In the end, Hendrickson showed great determination to pull away and claim the gold medal.
