Green and Gold Take Honors in VOJN Cross Country Relays

The VOJN Primary School kick started their athletic term with the first of their HEATS events which was the cross country relays for boys and girls. The races were run on Thursday 31st January and started in the vicinity of the Vance Amory Int Airport.

The girls started first and were cheered on along the route by classmates, Teachers and family members. All this while the Police officers directed the busy traffic on route.

The Gold house team virtually led all the way to take gold.

The boys’ race was more intense. Blue was leading all the way, even as they made the final baton exchange, next to the Newcastle Pottery.

However, as the Blue house athlete Demetrix France pounded up the final slope towards the school, he would have heard footsteps behind him and he was soon overtaken by a speedy Alex Browne of Green. France appeared powerless to do anything about it and was also overtaken by the Gold house athlete before they crossed the finish line.
