When the Windies team opted to send Bangladesh in to bat first, on day one of the ongoing first test match in Antigua, not in their wildest dreams would it have been anticipated that they would be bowling out the opposition in a mere 18 overs.
Howver, Kemar Roach settled into a superlative line and length and got the ball to deviate during that first hour of play and the Bangladeshi batsmen, had no response.
Roach ended with the remarkable figures of 5 overs; 1 maiden 8 runs and 5 wickets.
Bangladesh was routed for their lowest test score yet and the lowest test score in the last 44 years, a total of 43!
When the Windies batted, conditions seemed to have improved in favour of the batsmen and they got off to a steady start, led by the indomitable Kraigg Brathwaite.
At the end of day one, Brathwaite was nearing his 7th test ton and Devon Smith had made a much more fluent half century, than what transpired versus Sri Lanka, before he was caught behind.
Kieran Powell looked smooth and in command, in making a breezy 48, before a delivery from Mahmudullah, popped disconcertingly and he was superbly caught at first slip.
However, the Windies ended the day on 201 for 2, with a handsome lead of 158 runs; 8 wickets in hand and all of four days remaining.
Summarized scores: West Indies 201 for 2 (Brathwaite 88*, Smith 58; Powell 48) lead Bangladesh 43: Liton Das 25 (Roach 5-8, Cummins 3-11) by 158 runs
