PORT-OF-SPAIN: Rain gave the entire country a good wash down Thursday but eased up enough in Tarouba to allow Guyana to record a 68-run victory under the Duckworth Lewis method over the Leewards at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad.
The clash underway at 10.32am after early morning rain and after Guyana reached 19 for one the heavens opened again. When they went on a second time at 2.25pm the match was reduced to a 28-over affair. Batting first Guyana made 116 for nine with Leon Swamy getting a top score of 41 from 34 balls with five fours and a six. The inform Sachin Singh made 19 at the top of the order and Nigel Deodat 14.
The best of the bowlers for the Leewards was Tariq Newman who grabbed four wickets for nine runs from six overs. Medium pacer Jaden Francis was also on top of his game with two wickets for 16 runs.
Guyana after losing their first game to the Windwards badly needed to win this one and their bowlers came out hungry. They dismissed the Leewards for a paltry 49 runs. The Guyanese displayed a good all round bowling effort with four men getting two wickets each. Guyana with the win got 6.2 points which puts them on a total of 6.6 after two games.

The Leewards who were second in the standings behind T&T got 0.4 points and now sit on 6.6 points.
In the other games, T&T and Jamaica had to sit and look at the rain fall at the National Cricket Centre (NCC) as play was not possible in Central Trinidad.
All teams involved in the washout games each got one point. T&T retains the lead however and with the point moves on to 7.2 points. Jamaica who had 0.4 point coming into this game is now 1.4.
The clash between the Windwards and Barbados also ended in a no-result at Gilbert Park in California. Windwards after their big win in the first game and with this solitary point moves on to seven. The Barbadians have now moved on to 1.5.
