On Sunday, 27th July, immediately following the grand finale of the best of the best Primary Schools’ cricket series, a brief but significant ceremony was held.
Senior Sports Officer Carl Tuckett ably chaired the ceremony.
Among the awards presented were the following:
• To Lemuel Pemberton for long service in nurturing primary school cricket at the Joycelyn Liburd Primary School
• To Derrick Parry for long service in nurturing Primary School cricket at the St. Thomas’ Primary school.
• Man of the match-K’Vern Herbert (57 runs)
• Best batter-most runs-Ranveer Singh (88 runs)
• Most wickets-Joshua Persuad-5 wickets
• Best fielder -T-Vern Herbert-3 catches
• First place trophy-Team B
• Second place trophy-Team A (both trophies sponsored by Tyre World)
Former West Indies all-rounder, Keith Arthurton, donated monetary awards for the outstanding individual players.
Assisting in presenting the awards were Minister of Sports, Hon. Troy Liburd, and Assistant Minister. Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Jamir Claxton, Director of Sports, Aljay Newton and one of the cricket committee lead coordinators, Kezron Archibald.
