The 2025 Robin Trevor’s Spirit of Sailing Award goes to Melroy Henry. Melroy has been sailing with us since 2020, when he was just 12 years old. From the very beginning, he stood out as a keen and enthusiastic sailor—often arriving at the club hours before his lesson simply because he loved being here.

Melroy grew up around sailors, and his passion for the sport runs deep. His step-grandfather, an avid sailor himself, played a key role in nurturing that love for the sea, passing on not just knowledge, but a true sense of what it means to be part of the sailing community. That early inspiration is clear in everything Melroy does on and off the water.

His dedication, consistency, and drive have shaped him into a confident and highly skilled sailor. Most recently, he was selected to represent St Kitts and Nevis at the regional level in Martinique and went on to win our National Dinghy Championship—a testament to his talent and determination.

Beyond competition, Melroy consistently demonstrates strong sportsmanship and a team-first attitude. Whether it’s performing his penalty turns when in doubt, helping others rig or de-rig, or pitching in with jobs around the club, he leads by example. His initiative and positive outlook make him not just a valued team member but a true role model for younger sailors.

Having recently completed his World Sailing Level 1 certification, Melroy is well on his way to becoming an outstanding instructor. We’re excited to see him pass along his skills, enthusiasm, and love for sailing to the next generation.

For all these reasons, Melroy is our chosen recipient of this year’s Spirit of Sailing Award. We couldn’t be prouder.
At the recent Robin Trevor’s Memorial Sail, Shelia Trevors presented the 2025 Robin Trevor’s Spirit of Sailing Award and repurposed an old sailing trophy from the late Robin Trevors from 1975 to the winner. The winner was Melroy Henry.
Shelia Trevors has been sponsoring this catamaran sail trip as a memory of her late husband, Robin Trevors, an avid sailor, as a treat to the summer campers of the Nevis Aquatic and Sailing Centre. This is the 5th year in a row.
Shelia Trevors has been sponsoring this trip for the last 5 years, but this is the first time she was able to personally come and witness the event.
