The Leeward Islands Under-17 team secured a commanding 244-run victory over the Windwards as action continued in the West Indies Under-17 Tournament this past weekend, Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th August.

Kunal Tilokani

Batting first, the Leewards posted 238 runs, led by an impressive 85 from Kunal Tilokani and 52 from J’Quan Athanaze. For the Windwards, Fontanelle was the pick of the bowlers, taking 6 for 96.

In reply, the Windwards struggled and were dismissed for just 74 runs, with Tilokani starring again—this time with the ball—snaring 5 for 11.

Choosing to bat a second time, the Leewards declared at 143 for 5, with Athanaze finishing unbeaten on 55 and Tilokani adding 37. Fanis claimed 4 for 25 for the Windwards.

Set a daunting target of 308 runs for victory, the Windwards once more faltered, bowled out for just 63 runs. Tilokani proved their nemesis yet again, returning remarkable figures of 5 for 9, to finish with 10 wickets in the match alongside his batting heroics.

The Leewards sealed the emphatic win by 244 runs.

Meanwhile, Nevisian players Lythe Browne and Amoree Jones endured a quiet outing, failing to make a significant impact in this contest.
