Gingerland, Nevis – The Seventh-day Adventist Community Services Department of St. Kitts and Nevis united in a spirit of service and fellowship during a weekend of special activities from Friday, August 29 to Sunday, August 31.
The weekend began on Friday evening with a consecration service at the Gingerland Seventh-day Adventist Church. The feature address was a dynamic sermon delivered by Pastor Shawn Simmonds, setting the tone for a spiritually uplifting weekend.
On Sabbath morning, August 30, members from across the island gathered at Gingerland SDA Church for a joint worship service. The Minister of Community Development on Nevis, Hon. Jahnel Nisbett, delivered brief but impactful remarks, commending the community services team for their dedicated work and assuring the government’s continued support. During the service, long-serving community service members were recognized with special pins, presented by Minister Nisbett.
The sermon of the day was preached by Pastor Frederick Alfred, Director of Community Services at the South Leeward Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, who inspired the congregation with a powerful message of service and resilience.
That afternoon, the community services personnel, uniformed bodies of the church, and members of the congregation participated in a march of witness through Lower Hanley’s Road. The procession concluded at the Hanley’s Road Community Center, where participants engaged in singing and received words of encouragement from Pastor Alfred.
The weekend’s activities continued on Sunday, August 31, with a community impact project. Volunteers joined forces to repaint the St. George’s and St. John’s Senior Citizens Home, bringing joy and gratitude from the residents who warmly expressed their appreciation.
The series of events concluded with a social fellowship gathering at Fort Charles, strengthening bonds of friendship and unity among participants.
The weekend underscored the Seventh-day Adventist Church’s commitment to service, community building, and spiritual growth, leaving a lasting impact on both members and the wider community.
