It is with profound sadness that the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force joins the nation in mourning the passing of Sir Edmund Wickham Lawrence, GCMG, OBE, CSM, JP, who died peacefully on September 7th, 2025, at the age of 93.
Sir Edmund served as the third Governor-General of St. Kitts and Nevis from 2013 to 2015, representing the Crown and acting as Commander-in-Chief of our National Defence and Police Forces. During his tenure, he upheld the principles of unity, duty, and service; virtues that echo deeply within the RSCNPF.
An accomplished economist and visionary banker, Sir Edmund founded the St. Kitts–Nevis–Anguilla National Bank, helping build it into the largest local bank in the Eastern Caribbean. He also established key institutions such as the National Bank Trust Company, the Caribbean Insurance Company, and the Mortgage & Investment Company; these efforts laid the foundation for economic stability and security in our Federation.
Beyond his public roles, Sir Edmund was a devoted family man, a community servant, and a guiding force in national development. His unwavering leadership, integrity, and compassion enriched our society and left an enduring legacy.
During this period of grief, the RSCNPF extends sincere condolences to Lady Hulda Lawrence, their children, and all whom he served with grace and distinction.
May Sir Edmund Wickham Lawrence rest in peace. His contributions strengthened our nation, and his memory will continue to inspire.
