Johann Layne has replaced Shamar Joseph in the West Indies squad for the upcoming two-Test series against India. Joseph, a fast bowler, has been ruled out due to an injury and will undergo further assessment before the Bangladesh limited-overs series.
Layne, a 22-year-old all-rounder from Barbados, has shown promise in domestic cricket, taking 66 wickets in 19 first-class matches at an average of 22.28, including four five-wicket hauls.
His inclusion in the squad aims to provide early breakthroughs in Indian conditions.
The West Indies squad arrived in India on Wednesday morning and will begin preparations at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The first Test begins on October 2 in Ahmedabad, followed by the second match in Visakhapatnam
