KINGSTON, JAMAICA (October 20, 2025) – The Earthquake Unit at the University of the West Indies, Mona, has confirmed that a magnitude 4.2 earthquake was felt across parts of Jamaica on Sunday.
The seismic event occurred at approximately [insert time], with its epicentre located about eight kilometres south of Buff Bay, Portland.
Tremors were reportedly felt in sections of St. Catherine, St. Thomas, Kingston, and St. Andrew. There have been no immediate reports of damage or injuries, according to the Earthquake Unit.
The Unit continues to monitor seismic activity in the region closely and is urging the public to stay informed and familiar with earthquake safety procedures.
Jamaica regularly experiences low-level seismic activity due to its location along the northern margin of the Caribbean Plate.
