Nevis Makes History with International Film Festival Wins

Nevis is celebrating a landmark achievement on the international film stage following the success of the short film Pan Gyul, a powerful production written, directed, produced, and starring Juliette Jeffers.

The film earned six nominations at the prestigious Diversity in Cannes Short Film Showcase and secured two major awards:

Best First-Time Filmmaker — Juliette Jeffers
Best Original Song — Kaiso Esgatsy by Jahavid Allen

This remarkable accomplishment highlights the strength of Caribbean storytelling and the creative excellence emerging from Nevis.

Building on this momentum, Pan Gyul has been officially selected for the American Black Film Festival’s (ABFF) “Voices of Culture” showcase. The film is scheduled to screen on Friday, May 30, at the Miami Beach Convention Center, as part of ABFF’s 30th anniversary celebrations.

This international recognition marks a significant milestone for Nevis and underscores the global potential of its creative talent. The production features contributions from a talented team, including many local cast and crew members, making this achievement even more meaningful for the island.

We extend heartfelt congratulations to Juliette Jeffers, Jahavid Allen, and the entire Pan Gyul team for representing Nevis with distinction on the world stage.
