The Bring It Swim Team concluded a successful weekend at the Sonia O’Neal International Invitational in Barbados, where five swimmers proudly represented the programme against strong regional competition.
The team comprised:
Kawhi Hendrickson (8 & Under)
Akimba Cornelius (8 & Under)
Edith Denne (9–10)
Teadrian Tross (11–12)
Abhijith Srinivasan (13–14)
Throughout the meet, the swimmers delivered impressive performances, recording multiple personal best times, securing Top 10 finishes, and achieving key developmental milestones while gaining valuable international racing experience.
Leading the team were Abhijith Srinivasan and Edith Denne, both of whom achieved qualification standards for the upcoming OECS Championships. Abhijith produced a standout swim in the 50m breaststroke, cutting an impressive 4.24 seconds from his previous best to secure qualification. Edith also delivered an exceptional performance, achieving personal best times in every event she contested, with particularly strong showings in the 200m freestyle and 200m individual medley.
Teadrian Tross continued his strong season with several personal best performances and multiple Top 10 finishes. Having already secured OECS qualification earlier this year, the meet provided another valuable opportunity to build confidence and gain further regional experience.
The team’s youngest swimmers, Akimba Cornelius and Kawhi Hendrickson, also made a significant impact in the 8 & Under category. Akimba placed in the Top 10 in all seven of his events, highlighted by an impressive fourth-place finish in the 200m individual medley—his first time competing in the event. Kawhi, competing in his first long-course meet, demonstrated commendable determination and achieved a notable sixth-place finish in the 50m butterfly.
Accompanying the team were Head Coach James Weekes and Coach Annelise Leibbrandt, who also served as an official during the competition. Their performances throughout the weekend reflect the continued growth and development of both the swimmers and the programme.
The Bring It Swim Team returns home proud of the effort, sportsmanship, and determination displayed by all athletes and looks forward to building on this momentum for the remainder of the season.
