ST. JOHN’S, Antigua and Barbuda – Guyana, Barbados and Jamaica recorded impressive victories on Saturday as the West Indies Rising Stars Under-19 Men’s Championship continued across Antigua and Barbuda.
Guyana produced a dominant all-round performance to defeat the Leeward Islands by 121 runs at the Liberta Sports Club.
After posting 272 all out in 47.1 overs, Guyana’s bowlers dismantled the Leeward Islands batting lineup, dismissing the hosts for 151 in 37.4 overs to complete a comprehensive victory.
At the Pigotts Sports Ground, Barbados comfortably defeated Trinidad and Tobago by six wickets, reaching their target with 113 balls to spare.
Trinidad and Tobago were bowled out for 141 in 37.1 overs before Barbados responded confidently, finishing on 142 for 4 in 31.1 overs to secure the win.
Meanwhile, at the Bethesda Sports Ground, Jamaica registered a commanding 113-run victory over the Windward Islands.
Jamaica posted an imposing 252 for 3 from their allotted 50 overs before restricting the Windward Islands to 139 all out in just 25.3 overs to seal an emphatic triumph.
The results underscore the high level of competition in this year’s tournament as teams continue their quest for championship honours, with several outstanding individual and team performances highlighting another exciting day of youth cricket.
