CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – After two weeks of fun, learning, and developing football fundamentals, the annual Eddy Caines Summer Football Camp concluded on Friday, July 24, at the ET Willet Park.
During the closing ceremony, camp founder Eddy Caines expressed his sincere appreciation to the sponsors whose generous support helped make this year’s camp a success. He also encouraged participants to continue practising the skills they had learned throughout the programme, emphasising that consistent training is the key to becoming better footballers.
Addressing the primary school students in attendance, Caines urged them to share their newly acquired knowledge with their classmates, particularly with the Primary Schools’ Football Tournament scheduled for the upcoming school term. He encouraged them to use the camp experience as a foundation for continued growth and success in the sport.
Also delivering remarks was Sports Officer Marcus Duberry, who reaffirmed the Department of Sports’ commitment to supporting initiatives that promote youth development through sport. He commended the participants for their enthusiasm and encouraged them to remain dedicated to improving their football skills.
Coach Leroy “Jun-Jun” Sweeney engaged the participants in an interactive session, quizzing them on key concepts and techniques covered during the camp to reinforce what they had learned over the two weeks.
The camp concluded with a series of friendly simulation matches, allowing participants to showcase their improved skills and teamwork in a fun and competitive environment.
The annual Eddy Caines Summer Football Camp continues to play an important role in nurturing young football talent on Nevis, equipping participants with the technical skills, discipline, and confidence needed both on and off the field.
