Community Builder and Founder: Island Girls Rock
Last Saturday, Island Girls Rock! hosted the inaugural session of the Legally Literate Women™ program at the Four Seasons Resort Nevis.
Legally Literate Women™ is a curated workshop designed and facilitated by our Board Director and Attorney-at-Law, Ayana McCalman, and we are incredibly proud that she chose to launch the very first edition of this vital program with our community.
This intimate session brought together 12 small business owners and entrepreneurs from a wide range of industries. While participants represented diverse sectors, we were especially delighted to welcome several artists and creators who are also taking part in our ongoing Creative Summer Series.
The program addresses a critical need for women building businesses in the Caribbean, where access to practical legal knowledge is often limited. Through this highly interactive workshop, participants gained valuable, actionable skills to register and protect their businesses, confidently review and negotiate contracts, and understand how to safeguard their intellectual property rights.
Congratulations to all of the outstanding participants who completed the program and received their certificates of completion. Your commitment to strengthening your businesses and building professional confidence is truly inspiring.
We also extend our heartfelt thanks to our valued partner, Four Seasons Resort Nevis, for once again providing a beautiful space where our girls and women can learn, grow, and thrive. Special thanks to Mitchell Nover and Gillian Stoney for their thoughtful support and seamless coordination, which helped make this inaugural session a resounding success.
It is both encouraging and rewarding to work alongside leaders and partners who genuinely believe in our mission and continue to invest meaningfully in the women and girls of our community.
