NEVIS — Standing on the global stage alongside 448 elite sailors from 51 nations, Abhijith Srinivasan delivered a remarkable performance representing the St. Kitts and Nevis Sailing Association (SKNSA) and the Nevis Aquatic and Sailing Centre (NASC).
Competing at this elite level represents a significant leap from regional Caribbean fleets, where athletes face unique challenges, including limited high-performance resources, specialised infrastructure, and training support.
Overcoming these obstacles, Srinivasan secured 271st place overall, highlighted by an outstanding 28th-place finish in one of his final races. His ability to adapt rapidly and execute under high pressure against the world’s best sailors highlights his resilience and competitive potential.
“Abhijith showed up, persisted, and fought with confidence every single day,” noted the team’s leadership. “He transformed mistakes into masterclasses—sharpening his tactics, observing the field, and constantly refining his strategy.”
Srinivasan’s path to the world stage was guided by Coaches Nicholas Dupre and Nickhail Rogers, whose vision propelled him to the starting line, with additional training insights provided by Coaches Niels and Kristoff.
During the regatta, the St. Kitts and Nevis delegation also benefited from mentorship by three world-class Olympians: Andrew Lewis, Bruno Fontes, and Eduardo Marques. Their combined expertise provided invaluable tactical guidance and inspiration throughout the event.
