PORT OF SPAIN, TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO, August 27, 2026 — A spectacular unbeaten century from Tim Seifert and a decisive three-wicket spell from captain Roston Chase propelled the Saint Lucia Kings to a commanding 36-run victory over the Trinbago Knight Riders in the Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) at Queen’s Park Oval.
The Kings posted an imposing 211 for 4 from their 20 overs, their second 200-plus total of the tournament, before restricting the Knight Riders to 175 for 6 in their reply.
Seifert was the outstanding performer, smashing an unbeaten 105 from 61 balls, including eight fours and five sixes, to record his second CPL century and the first century of the 2026 tournament. His innings earned him the Player of the Match award.
Seifert Leads Kings’ Charge
Sent in to bat, the Kings made an aggressive start, with Seifert and Kamil Pooran putting together a 60-run opening partnership from just 34 deliveries. The Kings reached 64 for 1 at the end of the PowerPlay.
Seifert continued to dominate as he built further important partnerships with John Campbell and Charith Asalanka. Campbell contributed 27 from 17 balls, while Asalanka struck 33 from 21, including three sixes.
Seifert reached his century in the final over before finishing unbeaten on 105, ensuring the Kings closed their innings on 211 for 4, setting the Knight Riders a formidable target of 212.
Chase Turns the Match
The Knight Riders began their chase positively, with Colin Munro and Sunil Narine helping them reach 56 during the PowerPlay.
However, the match swung dramatically in the Kings’ favour when captain Roston Chase produced a sensational over. He dismissed Narine, Matthew Breetzke, and Nicholas Pooran in the space of three deliveries, leaving the Knight Riders’ chase in serious trouble. Chase finished with outstanding figures of 3 for 24.
Munro top-scored for the Knight Riders with 48 from 35 balls, but it was Kieron Pollard who provided the biggest counterattack. The veteran all-rounder smashed 65 from just 26 balls, including six fours and five sixes, briefly raising hopes of an extraordinary comeback.
Pollard’s dismissal, however, effectively ended the Knight Riders’ challenge, and they eventually finished on 175 for 6, 36 runs short of the target.
Kings Back on Top
The victory gave the Saint Lucia Kings back-to-back wins and moved them back to the top of the CPL standings, with eight points. The result also strengthened their campaign after a difficult start to the tournament.
For the Trinbago Knight Riders, the defeat was another setback in their title defence, leaving them with two points from their campaign.
The Kings will take considerable confidence from the performance, having combined a record-setting batting display with disciplined bowling to overcome the defending champions on their home ground.
