BASSETERRE, St. Kitts — August 29, 2026 — New strategies aimed at improving waste management and recycling across Saint Kitts and Nevis were explored during a half-day workshop held on Friday, August 28.
The workshop brought together officials from the Federal Government and the Nevis Island Administration, representing key agencies and departments responsible for Health, Environment, Physical Planning, the Bureau of Standards, and Waste Collection.
Representatives from the Republic of China (Taiwan) Technical Mission and the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) also participated in the discussions.
The workshop provided an important platform for stakeholders to examine the current state of waste management in the Federation and identify practical ways to improve the collection, handling, reduction, and recycling of waste.
Discussions focused on key challenges affecting waste management, while participants explored practical and sustainable solutions that could lead to a more efficient system.
The collaboration also highlights the importance of a coordinated, multi-agency approach to addressing waste management, with government departments and international partners working together to strengthen environmental practices and promote sustainability.
As Saint Kitts and Nevis continues to pursue a cleaner and more sustainable future, initiatives such as this workshop can help develop strategies that encourage greater recycling, improved waste practices, environmental protection, and more efficient use of resources.
