Bridgetown, Barbados — September 20, 2026: The Antigua and Barbuda Falcons soared to the CPL 2026 championship title on Sunday evening, defeating the Jamaica Kingsmen by eight wickets in a thrilling final at the Kensington Oval in Barbados.
A packed Kensington Oval provided the perfect backdrop for the tournament finale, with cricket fans turning out in a festive atmosphere as the two teams battled for the coveted championship trophy.
The Jamaica Kingsmen, sent in to bat first, endured a shaky start and found themselves at 30 for 2. But Maaz Sadaqat, who had already registered a century earlier in the tournament, produced another remarkable innings to put the Kingsmen back on course.
Sadaqat took the Falcons’ bowling attack to task, smashing 114 from just 58 deliveries, including eight fours and nine sixes. Despite wickets falling around him, his aggressive stroke play propelled the Kingsmen to 170 for 6 from their 20 overs. Saim Ayub provided valuable support with 29.
The Falcons’ bowlers were led by Sufyan Moqim, who delivered a match-turning spell, claiming 4 wickets for just 14 runs.
Chasing 171 for the championship, the Falcons came out firing. Rahkeem Cornwall set the tone by smashing 20 runs from the opening over, although he was dismissed soon after.
From there, Evin Lewis, Amir Jangoo and Hasan Nawaz took control of the chase. Lewis contributed 38, while Jangoo remained unbeaten on 57 and Nawaz on 47 not out, as the Falcons raced to victory.
The Antigua and Barbuda Falcons reached 173 for 2 in the 17th over, completing an emphatic eight-wicket victory and securing the CPL 2026 championship title.
The triumph capped a memorable campaign for the Falcons, who lifted the trophy in front of a jubilant Kensington Oval crowd.
