Nevis — The Nevis Disaster Management Department (NDMD) is gearing up to commemorate International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction on October 13, under this year’s theme, “Resilience Starts at Home.”
To mark this important observance, the NDMD will host a week of activities to promote disaster preparedness, strengthen resilience, and remind individuals, families, and communities of their role in reducing disaster risk.
The activities will begin on Sunday, October 11, with an NDMD Church Visit, followed by a Staff Development Session on Monday, October 12.
On Tuesday, October 13, the Department will mark International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction with a Public Outreach Campaign, taking its disaster preparedness and risk-reduction message directly to the community.
The week will continue on Wednesday, October 14, with a St. Kitts Excursion, followed by a Staff Excursion on Thursday, October 15.
The week’s activities will culminate on Saturday, October 17, with a Family Fun Day, bringing staff, families and the wider community together in an atmosphere of fellowship while reinforcing the importance of preparedness and resilience.
