CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS — In a historic milestone for national sports, Elijah Walters has been selected to represent St. Kitts and Nevis at the 2026 World Sailing Inclusive Championship, taking place in Portugal from October 1 to 10, 2026.
Walters’ participation marks the first time the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis will compete on the world stage at this prestigious international regatta.
Having trained with the Nevis Aquatic and Sailing Centre (NASC) from a young age, Walters has developed into an exemplary athlete whose journey highlights the power of adaptive and inclusive sports in the Caribbean.
“We are incredibly excited to see Elijah make history as the first sailor to represent St. Kitts and Nevis at this championship,” stated a representative from the Nevis Aquatic and Sailing Centre. “This is more than a trip—it’s an opportunity to showcase what inclusive sailing can look like in SKN and help open the door for future athletes to experience and enjoy this wonderful sport.”
Community Fundraising Campaign Launched
To cover travel, equipment, and competition logistics, NASC has launched a targeted fundraising campaign with a goal of EC$5,500. The Centre invites local citizens, businesses, and sports enthusiasts to support this landmark campaign.
