CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS — Following several weeks of rain delays, action in the Hard Times Tape Ball Tournament resumed on Sunday, September 20, at the Hard Times Playing Field with high-stakes semifinal action.
In the opening match—a highly anticipated Guyanese derby—Villa United delivered a masterclass performance to defeat Unstoppables by 96 runs, securing their place in the tournament final.
Electing to bat first, Villa United set an explosive pace from the start, led by half-centuries from openers Anand Bhim and Chris. The duo pushed Villa United to an imposing total of 171 runs in just 10 overs. Chris anchored the innings, remaining unbeaten on 60*, while Bhim chipped in with a dynamic 55. Contributor “Ab” added a quickfire 31 to seal the massive total.
In response, the Unstoppables struggled to mount a chase against a relentless bowling attack, eventually being bowled out for 75 runs. Nicolas Hero provided the lone resistance for Unstoppables with a top score of 32.
