Charlestown, Nevis — The Nevis Cultural Development Foundation (NCDF) joins family, friends, colleagues and members of the cultural community in celebrating the retirement of Mr. Linnelle Parris, affectionately known as Ras Bynghi Parris, following 16 years of dedicated service to the Foundation.
Throughout his tenure, Parris contributed to the preservation and promotion of Nevis’ cultural heritage, particularly through his involvement in African drumming. His work helped create opportunities for individuals, especially young people, to develop their artistic skills, appreciate their cultural roots and participate in the island’s rich traditions.
His contribution to cultural education and community engagement reflects the important role that dedicated cultural practitioners play in keeping traditional art forms alive. African drumming remains an important expression of Caribbean heritage, connecting generations through rhythm, performance and shared history. The NCDF has long supported cultural programmes that encourage the development of drumming and other traditional art forms in schools and communities.
As he enters retirement, Parris leaves behind a record of commitment, hard work and meaningful contributions to the Foundation’s cultural development efforts. His years of service represent a significant chapter in his professional journey and provide an opportunity to reflect on the value of preserving and passing on cultural knowledge to future generations.
The Foundation extends its sincere gratitude to Parris for his dedication, the knowledge he shared and the positive impact of his work over the past 16 years. His service and contributions are acknowledged with appreciation, and his presence will be missed by colleagues and members of the wider cultural community.
As Ras Bynghi Parris begins this new chapter, the NCDF, along with his family, friends and supporters, wishes him continued happiness, good health, relaxation and many rewarding experiences in retirement.
Congratulations, Ras Bynghi Parris, on a well-deserved retirement. Thank you for 16 years of service to culture and community.
