Basseterre, St. Kitts, October 9, 2026 — Twenty-three outstanding girls from public and private primary schools across Saint Kitts were recognised for their academic achievements, positive character, and social excellence at the annual Girls of Excellence Awards Ceremony, held on Thursday, October 8, at the K. Earle Clarke Community Centre in Newtown.

The ceremony was held in observance of the upcoming International Day of the Girl Child, celebrated globally on October 11. The event provided an opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of young girls while highlighting the importance of empowering, encouraging, and creating opportunities for them to reach their full potential.

Her Excellency the Governor-General, Dame Marcella Liburd, and Minister of State with responsibility for Gender Affairs, the Honourable Isalean Phillip, were among those present to honour and congratulate this year’s awardees. They were joined by family members, educators, and other stakeholders who gathered to celebrate the girls’ accomplishments and recognise their contributions to their schools and communities.

The Girls of Excellence Awards continue to highlight the importance of nurturing the academic, personal, and social development of young girls, while encouraging them to pursue their ambitions with confidence and determination.
