Nevis, St. Kitts and Nevis – October 2026 – The Nevis Health Promotion Unit is encouraging residents to take an active role in breast cancer awareness and healthy living through its “Pinktober Pink Power Card” Challenge, which officially begins on October 1 as part of the observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The initiative aims to promote breast health awareness, encourage healthier lifestyle choices, and inspire community participation in activities that support cancer prevention and early detection.

Participants are invited to collect a Pink Power Card and complete a series of health-related challenges throughout October. Activities include learning about breast cancer warning signs, knowing your breasts, wearing pink in support of breast cancer awareness, making healthy dietary choices, engaging in physical activity, drinking pink-infused water, and limiting tobacco and alcohol consumption.

Participants can earn points by completing the challenges and recording their progress on the card. At the end of the challenge, the first three participants with the highest number of points will win a free gynaecological consultation with Dr Stones, OBGYN, along with opportunities to win additional prizes.

“The Pink Power Card Challenge is an opportunity for individuals to take practical steps towards better health while increasing awareness of breast cancer and the importance of early detection. We encourage everyone to participate, learn, and share these important health messages with their families and communities.”

Pink Power Cards are available from the Nevis Health Promotion Unit, upstairs at the Ricaldo Caines Building. Residents can also collect cards at the following locations:

TDC

Valumart

Inland Revenue

Water Department

Outpatient Department at the Alexandra Hospital

All health centres

The Bank of Nevis

Four Seasons Resort

Participants are encouraged to complete the challenges throughout October and return their cards to the Nevis Health Promotion Unit upon completion.

The Nevis Health Promotion Unit reminds the public that breast cancer awareness is not limited to one month. Understanding breast health, recognising possible warning signs, seeking medical advice about unusual changes, and following appropriate screening recommendations are important steps in protecting long-term health.

Residents are urged to support the Pinktober campaign, participate in the Pink Power Card Challenge, and help spread the message that awareness, early detection, and healthy lifestyle choices matter.
