BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS — The 2026/2027 St. Kitts and Nevis Football Association (SKNFA) Division 1 League kicked off explosively this past weekend, headlined by opening wins for CIBC Village Galaxy, Trevor Fraites and Associates Molineux FC, Mantab FC, and ELCO Ltd Security Forces United.
The season opened on Thursday, October 8, at the Atiba Harris Sports Complex in St. Peter’s with a double-header. In the early match, Molineux FC earned a 2–0 victory over Rivers FC, with Ronald Williams opening the scoring in the 2nd minute and Davantoy Carty sealing the win in the 81st.
Later that evening, CIBC Village Galaxy matched Molineux’s scoreline by defeating St. Kitts Concrete Masters Sandy Point FC 2–0. After a tight, goalless first half, Jaheem Charles broke the deadlock in the 49th minute before Renardo Madurie doubled the lead in the 82nd minute to secure all three points.
Reflecting on the match, Village Galaxy Manager Ashton Davis praised his squad’s tactical discipline and seamless depth:
“It was an intense game, and the opponents put up a strong fight,” Davis noted. “I loved seeing our execution of practice drills on the pitch. When Coach Jevon made substitutions, the integration happened almost instantaneously. I’m extremely proud of the team, but it’s back to the drawing board to refine our strengths and build on areas for growth.”
Despite the opening-day setback, Sandy Point FC Head Coach Jacquan Hazel saw encouraging signs from his side:
“First, congratulations to Village Galaxy on the win,” Hazel stated. “We played a solid first half and created good chances that we should have capitalized on. That will come with more sharp work in training and finishing.”
The action shifted to the Saddlers Playing Field on Friday, where Mantab FC delivered the weekend’s most dominant performance with a 4–0 rout of Conaree Fireballs International. Kirae Jarvis ignited the offense in the 38th minute, followed quickly by Rawle Benjamin in the 42nd. Alphonso Francis extended the lead three minutes into the second half, before Jermaine Carey put the finishing touch on the victory in the 88th minute.
On Saturday, back at the Atiba Harris Sports Complex, ELCO Ltd Security Forces United powered past KFC Trinity/Challengers United 4–1. Donyelle Francis led the charge with a brace, while Joshua Finch and Shama Walters added a goal apiece. C’Steve Wrensford netted the sole consolation goal for Challengers United.
The opening round concluded on Sunday at Saddlers Playing Field, where Mother Becky’s Tea Saddlers United and Tropical Blossom Hotspring Bath United battled to a competitive 0–0 draw.
With Round 1 complete, all teams now turn their focus to next weekend’s fixtures as the race for the SKNFA Division 1 title heats up.
