Afy Fletcher Recognized with $100,000 National Award for 100 T20I Milestone

The Government of Grenada has honoured national cricketer Afy Fletcher with an award of EC$100,000 in recognition of her historic achievement of 100 Twenty20 International (T20I) appearances.

The presentation ceremony took place on February 28, 2026, at the Grenada National Stadium during the opening T20I match of the series against the Sri Lanka women’s national cricket team.

Fletcher’s accomplishment marks a significant milestone for Grenadian cricket. She is the first cricketer from Grenada — male or female — to reach 100 T20I caps, and only the sixth woman to achieve the feat for the West Indies women’s national cricket team.

With 100 T20I appearances and 92 One Day Internationals (ODIs), Fletcher now stands as the most capped international cricketer in Grenada’s history, further cementing her legacy as one of the country’s premier sporting ambassadors.

The recognition ceremony was led by Delma Thomas, Minister for Youth and Sports, who commended Fletcher not only for her on-field excellence but also for her continued commitment to youth development and grassroots cricket programmes across the island.

Officials noted that Fletcher’s dedication, discipline, and leadership have made her a role model for aspiring athletes and a powerful ambassador for Grenadian sport at the regional and international levels.

Her achievement represents both personal success and a proud moment for Grenada, underscoring the nation’s growing impact on international cricket.
