Ambassador Condor Hosts Independence Reception in Honor of Independence 33

Nationals in New York came together on Monday, September 19th, 2016 in honor of the Federation’s 33rd Anniversary of Independence.

His Excellency Ambassador Sam T. Condor hosted dozens of nationals of the Federation during a spirited exchange at the Permanent Mission of St. Kitts and Nevis to the United Nations. 

Nationals shared conversations, exchanged information and enjoyed the celebration of the anniversary of the Federation’s birth by partaking in a delicious spread of cocktail treats including wine and liquors.

His Excellency Ambassador Sam T. Condor spoke briefly with nationals in attendance expressing his appreciation for the support of those who attended included H.E. Dr. Elliston Rahming Ambassador of the Bahamas to the United Nations and the Organization of American States, H.E. Walton Alfonso Webson of the Permanent Mission of Antigua and Barbuda to the United Nations, as well as the Honourable Alva Baptiste, St. Lucia’s Minister of External Affairs and  H. E. Menissa Rambally of the Permanent Mission of St. Lucia.  Guests expressed their sincere appreciation for the thoughtful gesture of the hosting of the reception during such a symbolic time in the Federation’s history.

This year’s 33rd Anniversary of Independence is being celebrated under the theme “Promoting Prosperity through Sustainability and National Unity.” The Ambassador reminded nationals of the upcoming events aimed at embrace country and promoting a unified approach cared specifically at the advancement of nationals of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.

Organizations in the Diaspora have successfully come together to organize a grand Independence Gala to be held on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at the prestigious Scavello’s at 101 City Island Ave, in the Bronx, New York. The charity event begins at 7:30 p.m. and features an address to be delivered by the Honorable Prime Minister of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis, Dr. Timothy S. Harris. Popular youth entertainer Dejour will headline the entertainment for the night.

On the following day, Sunday September 25, 2016, the Kittitian and Benevolent Association (KABA) will host a church service in celebration of the Federation’s 33rd anniversary of Independence.

Monday’s Reception was the first Independence Reception hosted by His Excellency Condor since the commencement of his tenure as Permanent Representative to the United Nations.

A small token of appreciation was presented to nationals who braved the drizzle and overcast weather throughout the day.

Ambassador Condor and his staff extend heartiest appreciation to all who attended the event and assisted in any way to ensure the Independence Day Reception was a success.
