BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS – Prime Minister Hon. Dr Terrance M. Drew said Sunday, the 28th annual St. Kitts Music Festival will welcome more than 5,000 overseas visitors.
He said that figure has been achieved “each year for the past two consecutive years, delivering significant economic impact.
He noted that the annual fixture on the cultural calendar was started by a St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP) administration by then Minister of Tourism, Hon. G. A Dwyer Astaphan, in the SKNLP Government headed by Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Dr Denzil L. Douglas.
“For nearly three decades, the St. Kitts Music Festival has transformed the Federation into the cultural heartbeat of the Caribbean each summer, drawing internationally acclaimed performers, regional stars and thousands of music lovers to its shores,” said Your Caribbean Guide in a recent editorial.
“What began as a bold tourism initiative has evolved into one of the region’s most anticipated music festivals, celebrated not only for its diverse lineups but also for the way it showcases the warmth, culture and hospitality of St. Kitts and Nevis.
Few festivals in the region can assemble a lineup quite like this,” the editorial said.
