Anissa –Set and Ready

World renowned spin bowler for the West Indies women’s cricket team, Anisa Mohammed indicated in an interview on Monday at Warner Park that she is very confident going into the series versus the New Zealand women’s team, which starts exactly one week from today.

‘The last time I bowled against them, I got a five wicket haul and it’s even better meeting them in our home conditions, not like in New Zealand where it is extremely cold,’ she said..

Anisa also indicated that she was extremely proud to receive a national award recently for her contributions in cricket, as her home country, Trinidad and Tobago celebrated its 52nd year of Independence.
“I was very happy to be honoured in that manner,’ she stated.

As regards her bowling, she indicated that she looks at Sunil Narine, the West Indies mystery spinner as a mentor.
‘He is from my home country and he has a lot of variations and the batsmen hardly get the better of him so he is my motivation. I want to be like him,’ she said.

She also noted that she developed the art of bowling at an early age, thanks to her coach David Muffet.
In her time away from Cricket, Anisa represents the company NGC as an ambassador and she is also contracted to the West Indies Cricket Board. ‘So am kept very busy,’ she said.

Anisa had this special appeal for the Cricket lovers in St.Kitts and Nevis:
‘You need to come out and support us as we need to continue to build as a team and win for you guys,’ she said
