Another Two Deaths Rock Nevis

Charlestown-Nevis-News received over the weekend indicated that Nevis has lost two more prominent citizens.

Gone to the great beyond are Carlton Tyson and Nyian Farrell, both of Jessups Village.

Carlton Tyson, also known as ‘CAP’ or ‘BIGS’, was a well-known fisherman, who teamed up with his older brother of blessed memory, Desmond Tyson, in the innovative trade of fish, conchs and lobsters to neighbouring islands, such as St.Maarten and Puerto Rico.

He settled in his later years more as the well-known Businessman, who operated the very popular Cultural Bar, at the base of Jessups.
He was 86 years old at the time of his passing.

Nyian Farrell

Nyian Farrell, on the other hand, was one of the twin daughters of Ashley and Yvonne Farrell.

She served with distinction, as a Foreign Service Officer in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and would have worked alongside another Nevisian stalwart in Ms. Thouvia France, who in paying tribute to her noted:

“I think I was more impressed by her vast knowledge of world history and current affairs than I was by her attempts at comedy. She was as intelligent as she was fierce; as hopeful as she was practical. Despite the hand life dealt her, she was tough; she was a realist and most of all, she was beautiful, inside and out! “
